When You Wish Upon A Star Sign: The Disney Characters Zodiac

By Natalie Pohorski

Disney has released more than 800 films introducing us to thousands of characters, from the animal kingdom to outer space. The birthday data is hard to track for most of them, but I took a stab at where some of our favorite personalities land among the stars.

Aries: Aladdin (Aladdin)

March 21–April 19

Courageous, determined, impulsive

Aladdin does what he has to do to stay one jump ahead, whether that’s surviving in the streets, posing as a prince, or teaming up with a Genie. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty if it means the good guys win, or a magic carpet ride with his dream girl… either way.

Taurus: Bernard (The Rescuers)

April 20–May 20

Reliable, devoted, stubborn

Bernard may end up a famous rescue agent, but he remains as humble as his unsuspecting beginnings. Caring and kind, he is a supportive partner to Miss Bianca and dedicated to the cause. Though if it wasn’t for her, he might have always been a janitor.

Gemini: Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

May 21–June 21

Charismatic, adaptable, easily bored

Depending who you ask, Belle is either an odd duck or the belle of the ball. She adjusts well to her captivity in the castle, finding she can even win over the Beast. Her toxic trait is checking out more library books than she can finish.

Cancer: Marlin (Finding Nemo)

June 22–July 22

Imaginative, loyal, emotional

This water sign loves his son Nemo more than anything. So when Nemo goes missing, it's no surprise he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get him back—even if it means facing dangerous situations that force him out of his astrological crab shell.

Leo: Simba (The Lion King)

July 23–August 22

Fun, warm hearted, living in a bubble

As a little lion ready for his closeup, Simba has big dreams for becoming king. He loves having fun with his friends, which sometimes gets him into trouble. Rafiki has to essentially drag him out of exile, but his care for the animal kingdom wills out in the end.

Virgo: Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

August 23–September 22

Hardworking, kind, shy

Whether it's slaving away for her stepmother or tidying up for the dwarves, Snow White stays busy helping others. People are drawn to her sweet demeanor and her singing voice doesn’t hurt. This princess gives “beauty rest” new meaning—the mirror isn’t the only one who thinks she’s the fairest of them all.

Libra: Pocahontas (Pocahontas)

September 23–October 23

Diplomatic, gentle, avoidant

Pocahontas may be free-spirited, but she is also deeply grounded. Beyond her Romeo and Juliet pairing with John Smith, which can be seen as both rebellious and diplomatic (not to mention problematic). She is the queen of de-escalation and believes in the balance of Mother Nature.

Scorpio: Megara (Hercules)

October 24–November 21

Resourceful, passionate, secretive

Meg has to lead a bit of a double life as a slave to Hades and certainly gets the gold star in knowing how to manipulate men. Jaded from her past, she tries denying her feelings for Hercules, but ultimately sacrifices herself to save him. She’s a damsel, she’s in distress, and she can handle it.

Sagittarius: Merida (Brave)

November 22–December 21

Idealistic, untamed, impatient

Maybe Merida as the Archer sign is a little on the nose, but she’s got the fiery red locks and “screw diplomacy” attitude to match. She doesn’t want to be confined to a tight-fitting dress or marriage for that matter. And this girl’s got jokes.

Capricorn: Judy Hopps (Zootopia)

December 22–January 19

Disciplined, managerial, know-it-all

Judy believes in hard work and justice, even if it means getting up early for parking enforcement duty and a studio apartment. Since she thinks she’s got it all figured out, she takes it hard when she misses the mark. She’s got family values oozing out of her cute little bunny ears and will “try everything” once.

Aquarius: Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story)

January 20–February 18

Independent, humanitarian, aloof

Buzz Lightyear isn’t just an air sign because he comes from space. Reality is a hard pill for him to swallow. He cares about the greater good, even though saving the world can be isolating. He’s fearless and won’t take “you can’t fly” for an answer.

Pisces: WALL·E (WALL·E)

February 19–March 20

Artistic, friendly, escapist

WALL·E is pretty content with his life in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. He has his movies, music, and pet cockroach to keep him company. He is compassionate, selfless, and a hopeless romantic. Once he meets EVE and they are swept off on a space adventure, WALL·E proves he is anything but a robot (at least personality-wise).
